Question on preorder date

I can understand why the ship date is in November. But, I would like to hear your thoughts on why the preorder date is 10/27. If I was apple I think I would like to get as many orders in as soon as possible. The structure for this is already in place at Apple and the phone companies.

I would even give them the money now to get an early spot in line.

Any thoughts.

If the pre-order is delayed people on the fence between 8, 8 Plus, and X might order one of the 8s keeping those sales up rather than ordering and waiting.
