If I wouldn't have purchased AppleCare+ when I bought the iPhone in 2014, that warranty would have expired last year and I'd be looking a a repair cost of several hundred dollars instead of a free replacement..

I always have Applecare on my Macbooks but not my iPhone as I only keep them for 12 months.
However I recently discovered that at the Apple store in our town (KRCS) they give you an extra years warranty on all Apple products so that's worth thinking about.

Supposedly but it seems to be a grey area, Some people have had success but others not so much.
